I love the saying that "scars are tattoos of the brave." They are the visual history of our body's life experience. Whether we acquired them from an accident or an elective surgery, they are powerful markers and the symbols of our survival. Unfortunately what scars do beneath the surface can be debilitating. When we do STR we aren't working to remove the topical scar but are focused on softening, and in some areas, dissolving the fibers inside that can impede blood flow, and lymphatic drainage. Scars can cause immobility and pain in the pelvic region due to vaginal childbirth, C-section, episiotomy or an appendectomy. We work internally to reclaim the health of your tissue and to help eliminate pain in a few sessions. Scar tissue work isn't limited to the pelvic region; I've worked with a firefighter's hands, chest scars from females transitioning to males, knee surgeries and amputations.
Initially we may look at our scars as weaknesses, and view them as unsightly or even hideous. I believe that they are like Kintsugi, the Japanese tradition of repairing broken pottery with gold, creating works of art.
