I use a combination of techniques within a massage session. It depends on what you are physically presenting and desiring that day. Sometimes it's a tweaked neck from sleeping weird, or the eight hours of computer work that has your back fired up or perhaps it's the exhaustion of living in our modern world and your body is craving the solace of soothing touch. Our culture considers massage to be a luxury, a pampered treat, and yet research proves time and again just how essential touch is to the human spirit. You don't need to physically hurt to benefit from body work. Skilled touch can remove you from the fight/flight business of your life into a sense of rested grounding; finding that deeper breath and place of joy that springs from being met precisely where you are.
A session can include deep tissue, acupressure points with or without essential oils, stretches, and the use of hands, elbows, knees, and feet. Most important is the dance we are creating together. I tell my clients I am not working on you, I am working with you. You may be on the table, but your energy is what directs how deep we go into the tissue, how we work to open up your breath and influence your life force, or chi, to move fluidly throughout your body.
