Pre-Natal
Ah pregnancy. Such a sacred, joyous time in a woman's life and yet suddenly your body is now being directed by the surge of hormones. These hormones can change your moods, your eating and sleep habits, and cause the loosening and stretching of ligaments. One day you look down and realize your breasts are resting on your belly! If there are two things I would've done differently during my pregnancy (35 years ago) I would have gotten more massages and stock piled peppermint ice cream. Working in a side posture, supported with pillows, we can address issues such as the stiffness that creeps into the hip area, or edema, or open up the diaphragm for more expansive breath. I could list a number of therapeutic reasons why any pregnant woman should get massages, but what I really think, after having worked with many pregnant women, is that you're in full blown goddess state and it's time for adoration. I know, it sounds like new age woo woo stuff but it's true. There's a being, maybe two, inside you and you're doing this tremendous job of housing and feeding them and who you were before you became pregnant is changing. Even if this isn't your first child, you are changing again, from the parent of one to the parent of two. It's a Big deal. A session offers time for you to receive the nurturing that can support you through this change.
